I started with a painted sketch for this design in my Brooklyn studio and then worked with weavers in Hyderabad and a nonprofit women's organization in India to sew items.

Ikat is an intricate dyeing and weaving technique where artisans tie and dye warp threads, then hand weave them on a loom to create a one-of-a-kind fabric.
